Before starting the porcelain veneer, if different dental treatments are required before the procedure, these are completed first. Procedures such as root canal treatment for decayed teeth, treatment of gingival diseases, and cleaning of dental calculus are completed before the treatment. The porcelain veneer process, which is made specifically for the person and each tooth of the person, consists of the following stages:
- Preparation stage: In order to ensure that porcelain veneers fit harmoniously on the natural tooth, shaping processes such as cutting and filing are applied on the natural tooth, depending on the type and size of the veneer to be made.
- Measurement, design and production: First of all, the reshaped teeth are measured. Measurements can be made with classical or digital methods. In the classical measuring process, a dough-like substance is placed in the mouth using a measuring spoon, and it is left to freeze for a short time. After the freezing process is finished, the mold is removed from the mouth. In this way, mouth and tooth size are transferred to this mold. In the process of measuring with digital methods, the mouth and tooth structure of the patient is scanned in 3D using a digital camera and the images obtained are transferred to the computer. The margin of error in the measurements taken in this procedure is quite low compared to the classical method. The measurements taken by any of these methods are sent to the laboratory for the production of porcelain teeth. According to the working intensity of the laboratory, the production process of the desired porcelain teeth can take 1-2 weeks. During the production process of porcelain teeth, temporary veneers are applied to patients in order to minimize the negative effects that may occur after shaping processes such as cutting and filing on natural teeth.
- Porcelain tooth rehearsal: The harmony of the porcelain tooth produced specifically for the person in the laboratory with the teeth adjacent to the natural tooth in which it will be placed, with the teeth in the opposite direction and with the tooth colors is rehearsed. At this stage, opinions are also exchanged with the patient. If any problem occurs in the porcelain veneer produced after the examinations made at the point of placement on the natural tooth, aesthetic appearance and color harmony, it is corrected by the dentist. However, if it is a problem that cannot be solved by the dentist, the porcelain teeth are sent back to the laboratory to solve the problem by making the necessary corrections before the porcelain teeth are permanently attached to the natural tooth.
- Bonding of the porcelain veneer: The porcelain veneer tooth, which has been finalized and polished in the laboratory, is finally rehearsed in the patient's mouth. With the consent of the patient, it is fixed to the natural tooth using a special adhesive. Thus, the dental veneer process is completed. The patient is informed about how to care for the porcelain tooth veneer and what to pay attention to.
